NRA Basic Pistol Course

Length: 8 hours (Classroom location varies)

Cost: $125 $99 (NRA student package and Certificate included) 

A separate $20/person range fee (is included)will apply and is not included in the course tuition. All students must successfully complete both the classroom session and the range portion of the course to receive a Certificate.Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure,Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet,take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate. 


The Basic Pistol course  an eight hour course. Students will get the Basics of Pistol Shooting  and receive an extensive lesson in safety, gun handling, the various types of pistols, the fundamentals of pistol marksmanship, various pistol firing positions, several practical exercises on the firing range, cleaning, storage, and a summary of pistol sports and activities.

Course Introduction

The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course introduces students to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this course, the students will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, pistol shooting fundamentals, and pistol shooting activities. The Basic Pistol Course will also help prepare the student for participation in other NRA courses.
